by Samuel De Champlain (Author)

The Voyages of Samuel de Champlain Volume 1 is a historical book written by Samuel de Champlain himself. It chronicles his travels and explorations in North America during the early 17th century. Champlain was a French explorer and cartographer who played a significant role in the colonization of Canada and the founding of Quebec City. In this book, Champlain describes his encounters with various indigenous tribes, his interactions with European settlers, and his observations of the natural environment. He also provides detailed maps of the regions he explored, including the St. Lawrence River and the Great Lakes. The book is divided into several sections, each detailing a specific voyage that Champlain undertook. It begins with his first voyage to North America in 1603 and ends with his fourth voyage in 1613. Throughout the book, Champlain writes in a clear and descriptive style, providing readers with a unique perspective on the early history of North America. Overall, The Voyages of Samuel de Champlain Volume 1 is an important historical document that offers valuable insights into the early exploration and colonization of Canada. It is a must-read for anyone interested in the history of North America, the French colonization of Canada, or the life and travels of Samuel de Champlain. On the 27th, we went to visit the savages at St. Matthew's point, distant a league from Tadoussac, accompanied by the two savages whom Sieur du Pont Grave took to make a report of what they had seen in France, and of the friendly reception the king had given them. Having landed, we proceeded to the cabin of their grand Sagamore [137] named Anadabijou, whom we found with some eighty or a hundred of his companions celebrating a tabagie, that is a banquet. He received us very cordially, and according to the custom of his country, seating us near himself, with all the savages arranged in rows on both sides of the cabin. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
