by Jeff Lukich (Author)

Have you ever felt the quiet pull to return to the Catholic Church--but weren't sure where to begin? Millions of Catholics have stepped away from the church, often carrying questions, regrets, or a quiet sense of loss. Yet the desire to come home--to belong again--never fully disappears. In The Long Way Home, Jeff Lukich shares his own return after decades away, weaving personal story with encouragement for those who feel the same longing. Written as a practical guide for fallen-away Catholics, it is also a resource for family members who hope to support loved ones, and for clergy who minister to those considering a return. With honesty and humility, Lukich reminds readers that coming back is possible, that the doors of the church remain open, and that God never stops pursuing them. Part memoir and part roadmap, this book offers hope to anyone seeking faith and a powerful reminder that no matter how far someone wanders, God never stops calling them home.

Author Biography

Jeff Lukich is a writer, endurance coach, and lifelong seeker of faith. A graduate of Presbyterian College in South Carolina, he spent more than thirty years in public child welfare, retiring in 2018 as chief of staff for Georgia's Division of Family and Children Services.

In 2022, Jeff returned to the Catholic Church after forty years away--a journey that became the heart of The Long Way Home: A Catholic Return to Faith. His writing combines personal experience, honest reflection, and a desire to help others rediscover the peace and purpose that come from faith.

Jeff serves at the altar and volunteers in several parish ministries. He and his wife, Mary Beth, live in Georgia, where they stay active in their parish and community. When he's not writing or coaching athletes, Jeff is often outdoors--training for marathons and ultramarathons, cycling, or working in his yard.
