The goal in writing the book was to highlight achievements, activities, individuals, institutions, and a variety of things that should be remembered. The Cumberland Association has impacted Free Will Baptists on local, state and national levels in a several ways. The Association was a driving force in higher Christian education and at the forefront of the dream and later reality of Free Will Baptist Bible College, now Welch College. Its' churches have been a strong under pinning of support throughout its 175 year history for Northern American Missions, International Missions and all ministries of the National Association of Free Will Baptists. The Cumberland has been a believer and participant in the Tennessee Free Will Baptist State work from the beginning and continues to rigorously support the Tennessee Free Will Baptist State Office.
