WHO SHOULD READ THIS BOOK?

Like most books written, the process eventually becomes a journey for the authors, i.e., the initial writings evolve into a more definitive clarity and meaningful message for the readers. Since the initial focuses was upon the classroom challenges that the teachers face in their classrooms, the envisioned title of this book-For the Teachers & Teachers-To-Be-addressed (1) the challenges facing the teachers in America's classrooms and (2) as guidance for those individuals contemplating a teaching career and those many teachers-to-be within one of the many undergraduate programs.

Along their journey, the authors of this book-via their extensive experience, research, and analysis thought it best and more meaningful to include those additional populations beyond 'teachers' and 'teachers-to-be!' The purpose was to develop and provide for the entire educational community a more comprehensive model, analysis, protocol, and understanding for the teachers and teachers-to-be, but also for the families of students at risk, school principals, legislators, education planners, and policy makers.

That said, the following ten questions/statements reflect some educational realities, challenges, and opportunities:

  • Did my college prepare me for this?
  • Who is going to take this job?
  • How do I help all these students?
  • Is this meaningful to my students?
  • I feel like all I'm doing is managing them!
  • I wish I had someone to guide and mentor me!
  • Why does education cost so much and a lack of education so much more?
  • This isn't fair to my students!
  • Why do I feel like we don't matter?
  • Can I get some help, please?
