The Adventures of Eddie and Emma Eyeball was created with the goal of educating children and adults about eye health and eye diseases that may affect them directly. In three short and entertaining stories, Eddie and Emma describe how to prevent Conjunctivitis, treat Night Blindness and Amblyopia. Sixty percent of the world's blindness is preventable. Through education and increased awareness, we can change this statistic for the better. Eddie and Emma are two endearing eyeball creature creations. Ten percent of all proceeds to the author will be donated to charity.
Author Biography
The author, Dr. Simrun Kalra was inspired to write this three short story comic book while volunteering at Uma Eye Clinic in Chennai, India. During that time she saw many common eye ailments that could be prevented easily if only parents and children knew what simple measures to take. The comic book addresses three eye diseases: Conjunctivitis, Lazy Eye, and Night Blindness. Currently, Dr.Kalra is completing her medical residency at Harvard University in Boston, MA, USA. The comic book originally written in English in 2008 was printed and donated to children in Chandigarh, India, through Rotary Club. This book is now translated in Hindi and the first 2000 copies have been distributed through various charitable organizations in India. This is very well written and entertaining educational material.
