Everywhere Vicki H. Moss has traveled, people have said, "I can tell you're from the South because of your accent." One lady in Ireland asked, "You're from Texas?" She replied, "Tennessee-however many of my Tennessean kin left for Texas in the 1800's-you've probably met some of them because they took their Tennessee accent with them." Perhaps it's because the Appalachian Mountains are an echo of Scotland. It was in these southern states that the echoes of Scotland resounded through songs, hymns, and storytelling-especially Christmas stories.
