by Jean Bovell (Author)

'Pursuing the Dream' is a biopic that speaks of a specific journey by sea from the Caribbean to Britain during the early 1960s, and at a period when peoples from the various colonised English-speaking West Indian islands were being invited to join the British workforce in re-building of the country following destructions that resulted from World War 2.

The specific request resulted in large numbers of mostly disadvantaged young West Indians grasping the once in a life-time opportunity of a being enabled to obtain lucrative earnings in return for services rendered.

Set on a backdrop of historical and biographical factors, the story offers a window into the occurrences, encounters, experiences and interpersonal relationships that evolved within a specific community that was developed in the closed environment of a ship, during an eventful three-week crossing of the Atlantic by individuals with the collective dream of a better life.
