With a background in nutrition and healthcare management, author Carol Tansey is uniquely qualified to document the state of longterm healthcare for Seniors in Montreal-and she does it as a current resident of one such facility. After suffering a series of strokes more than 6 years ago, she was written off as a hopeless case. In this memoir, she recounts both the frustrations and successes she has experienced in her slow recovery and in her attempts to reclaim a semi-independent and gluten-free life. Carol Tansey is a Senior-83 years of age. She was on Staff for 5 years in a Nursing Home. She has been 5 years as a Resident in a Nursing Home. She was 6 months in hospital as a patient. She was 11 months in a previous long-term care facility. Carol studied Nutrition at Macdonald College of McGill University. In 1980, she also received a Certificate in Management in Health & Social Services, also from McGill. She has led Discussion Groups in Seniors' Homes for 11 years. She has catered parties for as many as 200 people.
