by Karl D. Stephan (Author)

A diagnosis of breast cancer can be devastating not only for the woman who has it, but for her partner as well. This is a memoir by the husband of a breast-cancer victim who nearly died, not from the disease, but from side effects of the treatment. Faith, help and encouragement from friends, and a new oncologist pulled her through. If you're a man whose wife or girlfriend is facing breast cancer, this book will show you how a self-confessed nerd who couldn't stand the sight of blood discovered resources of courage, persistence, and love that he didn't know he had. Surviving cancer is no picnic, and this book doesn't sugar-coat the risks, dangers, and temptations involved. Whether she admits it or not, a woman with breast cancer needs lots of support, and this story describes how the victim's husband supported her throughout her ordeal, helping her navigate the complexities of diagnosis and treatment options, holding her head while she lost her cookies, and taking up the slack of household chores. Written with clarity, directness, and occasionally humor, this story will inspire couples facing breast cancer with hope, encouragement, and a new sense of purpose.
