by Louise Powell-Mello (Author)

Midnite, is a book about Love, Understanding and Acceptance. It is about accepting individuals for who they are no matter what cultural background they come from. It is about how her life was saved by three dogs who did not care that she was different. You ever wish you were the exception to rejection or bullying? Do you want to be accepted for who you really are? This is Midnite's story about rejection, and how acceptance and understanding saved her life. There's probably no worse feeling in life than the feeling of rejection because you are different. Rejection sucks because it goes beyond emotional pain, it can come from fear, ignorance, or hatred. Rejection takes countless forms, and it can hurt so much. No one wanted Midnite because she was Black, no one dared to keep her because she is considered Bad-Luck. Non-forgiveness or bitterness will ravage your life because of rejection. Midnite was blessed with understanding and accepting parents who saved her from a life of rejection. Midnite's story will remind every person that conflict can only be ended with understanding and acceptance. It is an allegory of today's societal issues, especially those in America. She reminds everyone to accept each other regardless of their differences in opinions, social standings in life, colors, walks of life, etc. Her message of friendship and community being pivotal in a person's development is evident here. She talks about the importance of helping each other grow in understanding and tolerance will help with violence and corruption in one's life. It is also a story with a lesson accompanying it, not only for kids, adolescents, but to everyone who reads her story.
