God's character is not to be defined by the book of Job alone. It needs to encompass all that the Bible reveals. God is to be known by what history reveals. Israel's history reveals that God first desired to bless people but when they forgot God, they turned to idols which, much like Adam and Eve, demean the nature of self and make them less than God designed them to be. They are led by their feelings and desires, by what their senses' influence, and not by God. They look to natural means, neighbors, for salvation and not to the God who brought them out of slavery and brought them into the Promised land. They believed their weapons and fortresses could save them because those are at hand, things they can touch and know are "real". They have no patience for a God that can remain silent for days, or weeks, or months, or years. God happens in God's appointed time, "in the fulness of time." But Elihu argues that God has many ways of communicating and we must "Listen, Listen to the roar."

I was born in a Japanese Internment Camp, almost dying at birth. I grew up in California but moved to Jackson, Michigan in 1966.

I believed I knew God but I doubted that I would go to heaven. God revealed that I had never put my trust in him. In 1971 I had post-partum depression. I could not face life; so, I gave it to God. He opened the scriptures to me and gave me understanding. In 1986 I began classes at a community college and began research about the book of Job.
