by Jon K. Newton (Author), Barry Chant (Foreword by)

In How Sovereign Is God?, Jon K. Newton challenges common assumptions about God's sovereignty and the implications for our lives and tries to steer a fresh path in the midst of all the controversies that surround this topic. This book's approach is based on biblical theology that interacts with whole passages and stories in Scripture rather than just prooftexts. How Sovereign Is God? also provides an insightful discussion of the theological issues involved (such as election and foreknowledge) and thought-provoking ideas for how a solid view of divine sovereignty can help us live as Christians today.

Author Biography

Jon K. Newton (PhD, Deakin University) is Associate Professor of Biblical Studies and Pentecostalism at Alphacrucis University College in Melbourne, Australia. He is the author of Revelation Reclaimed (2009), The Revelation Worldview (2015), A Pentecostal Commentary on Revelation (2021), and two books of Australian Pentecostal stories: Holy Spirit Breakout (2023) and Holy Spirit Encounters (2025). He is married to Judy and lives in Kilmore, Victoria, Australia.
