by Julie K. Macken (Author)

When Julie Macken achieved financial freedom and quit her job in 2001, she felt happy and prosperous. But she wondered why more people weren't thriving financially. Having discovered that making money does not need to involve hard work, she wanted to share her knowledge. Some people wanted to copy Julie, assuming that if they duplicated her action as an investor that they would achieve the same results. But Julie knew that the path to financial freedom, or any form of success, is primarily an emotional journey. Before she began investing, Julie studied wealthy people and developed an understanding of how they think. Success in a personal thing and it comes in many guises. For Julie it is predominately about fun, freedom, love and motion forward. Some think they will become happier when they have more money but Julie believes that the attainment of our dreams is not the real prize. The true reward comes from our life experience along the way. Our achievements are not as important as who we become as a result of the journey. Although written by a property investor, this book is much more about the psychology of success than it is about real estate. Liberally spiced with stories that stir the emotions as well as material to stimulate the mind, the adventures and lessons in this book bring to light the essence of freedom that dwells within us all. Many books about money aim to teach you what to do. Footloose and Financially Free will inspire you to think for yourself. Every page is littered with clues.

Author Biography

Within two months of publishing Footloose and Financially Free, Julie Macken found herself at a very loose end. Her husband of 14 years moved out, her dog of 12 years died and her home was sold. This left her momentarily devastated. But she quickly realised that this presented the perfect opportunity to practice what she preached. Many expected her to promote her book but on becoming single again, Julie did what any self-respecting, self-made woman would do. She obtained a one-way ticket to Europe and set off on an adventure. At the first stop, primed with fine champagne, she was the last passenger to board her flight and recalls feeling decidedly privileged when the airline staff came to escort her onto the plane. Julie remembers life before affluence and is as eager as ever to inspire others to enjoy the choices and benefits it brings. Since her divorce, Julie has enjoyed extensive overseas travel and has immersed herself in the Cuban Salsa Scene in Sydney. She is still an active member of her favourite eclectic Toastmaster Club and has recently developed a penchant for Stand-Up Comedy.
