by Rod Hamilton (Author), Rhett Schober (With), Nick Denbow (With)

In Fly Fishing the Yucatan, Rod Hamilton offers nitty gritty specifics for the angler, including details such as exactly what rods, lines, reels and flies are must-haves, a battle plan for walking a flat and a course in presenting to and successfully plucking out fish in the most complex situations. Also included is advice for the intrepid adventurer on safety, communications, currency and exchanges (forget credit cards in true rural areas), licenses, seasons, and much more.

Author Biography

Rod Hamilton has been an avid fly fisher for fifty years chasing salmon, trout and steelhead from his home base in British Columbia, Canada during the summer and flats species in the tropics during the winter. Through his book Do It Yourself Bonefishing, website www.diyfishing.com and his most recent publication Fly Fishing the Yucatan he shares his passion for catching saltwater species on the fly with like-minded fishermen from around the world. In addition to his books and online outlets he contributes to a variety of industry magazines.

Born and Raised in Vail, Colorado, Rhett Schober has spent most of his life in the pursuit of his greatest passion, fly fishing. Whether on the rivers of Colorado, the lakes of Japan or the flats of the Yucatan, Rhett always finds a way to have a great time and make light of things that shouldn't be so serious. He first came to the Yucatan on a college scholarship to study the Mayan Indians in the central Yucatan. During that period, he found time to hit the coastal areas and discover some of the best fly fishing the Yucatan has to offer for himself. After college, Rhett made his way to Japan and then back to Vail where he got into the fly fishing business as a guide and shop dog. However, the Yucatan was calling out to him and he moved down to Akumal, Mexico where he now lives, fishes and works. Rhett would like to dedicate his participation in this book to his lovely daughter Beniko who inspires his every thought and consideration!

Nick Denbow is a British ex-pat with over 27 years experience working in the fly fishing industry, he has achieved a Bachelor of Science degree with honors in Aquaculture and fishery management in 1998 and also qualified as a Salmon and Trout Association National Fly Casting Instructor in 2000. Nick moved to Mexico 13 years ago and started guiding and teaching fly fishing in Mahahual on the beaches, lagoons and bays of the Southern Yucatan. Nick runs both the Western Caribbean Fly Fishing School and catchafish.net guide services catering to fishermen of all experience levels wishing to target the huge range of fly friendly fish species in his area.
