by Carol Perkins (Author)

In this book, Dr. Carol Perkins shares her knowledge and experience as a Naturopathic Doctor (N.D.) to inform, educate and inspire people to become active participants in their journey for optimal health and vitality! She believes that 'Nature is your best pharmacy.' This includes nutritious foods, herbal remedies, homeopathy and just good common sense. In this book, you will find concise, yet clear and useful advise on how to stop flu and cold from ruining your precious time. It will also answer the most common questions people have: * How can I prevent an infection? * If an infection hits, how can I lessen the intensity and severity? * Do I need to get the flu vaccine? Is it safe? * Is the Ebola virus something I should worry about or is it just media hype? In addition to providing strategies for disease prevention, Dr. Perkins gives her First-Line-of-Defense recommendations for the acute onset of flu and cold symptoms. Most infections resolve with no further intervention. Unfortunately, not everyone has a healthy immune system. In these cases, her Second-Line-of-Defense recommendations may need to be implemented long-term.

Author Biography

Carol Perkins, N.D., owner of Natural Choices Clinic in Lexington, Kentucky, has remained true to the nature of naturopathic medicine, "Treat the patient, not the disease.", for 15 years. Dr. Perkins is a graduate of a four-year accredited naturopathic medical school and a member of the AANP, the national organization for the profession. Her approach to health blends centuries-old, natural, non-toxic therapies with current advances in the study of health and human systems. Her greatest joy is sharing her knowledge gleaned from research and life experiences as a Naturopathic Doctor (N.D.). People want to know how to stay well in a toxic world. They are searching for answers on the internet, from the media, self-help books, each other and their doctors. But with so much varied information available, who do you trust to give you truth? Dr. Perkins' intention in her practice and in her books is to inform, educate and inspire people to become active participants in their journey for optimal health and vitality! She understands that each person' situation is different and a "one-size-fits-all" plan will not work. Nevertheless, she always attempts to direct patients and readers back to simple living using the 8 Laws of Health to keep them on course. Carol is quite familiar with this simple living concept. She grew up in a very small farming community in northern Ohio. Everyone knew each other and took care of those in need. For their medical needs, they called for "Doc Lewis", the country doctor who concocted his own remedies and made house calls. That was a time when people relied on common sense and wisdom passed down from generation to generation. Prescription drugs were unheard of back then, vaccinations were minimal, if at all, and gardens and livestock carried them through the years with nutritious, organic food. Life was indeed simple. The only access her family had to electronics was watching television for one hour on Sunday nights. But it was enough because as a child, it was more important to be playing outdoors and having fun or simply reading a book. Dr. Perkins believes the simple life is what most people truly desire. The 8 Laws of Health that she often refers to in her books reflect this simple life concept as well as the true path to optimal health! She has several ideas for future books in the works such as 'How to Stay Young at 100', 'Living the Simple Life, ' and '21 Days to a Healthy You.'
