Capitalism? Abandoned in 2014! Today, ten years later, our new sustainable development model lies of the base of the conquest of new horizons and leaves with those people who lived through this transition strong memories of those indelible moments. The 2008 economic crisis was not the greatest crisis in history but it was the one that signaled the point of non-return along the path of democratic evolution in our western capitalist model: it wasn't an economic crisis, as many would have us believe, but a crisis of ideals, of ethical and moral values. Given that bleak context, the birth of a new economic model would not have been possible without a spark that reawaken our conscious, and everything exploded because the debts the western countries had run up had reached the point of non-return. The threat of retaliation from such unforeseeable scenarios was necessary to make people understand that the capitalist curve had gone all the way around its one-hundred-year cycle and that the time had come to lay the foundations for a new model; the search for new harmony took place through the valuation of common goods, thus highlighting the common good and not the good of the individual, the future rather than the present. It is possible for us to change and, above all, it's a matter of will, of the willingness to give up something so that we can reach the sort of stability that will allow us to take a new path towards a model that is effective and efficient. It is from these assumptions that the new path is born and it is from the joining of two words, equilibrium and economics, that we obtain equiboomics. It is a difficult path to take, a path that stems from the tethers of blackmail but that grows as our last remaining hope; the ten years that have just gone by have been a rare historical moment in which hope and frustration, illusion and fear have lived unwaveringly beside each other. Today, the 8th June 2024, is another day we can write into our history books and even though the world is still split into two factions with no dialogue between them, the member countries of the London Committee can rejoice and hope for a better future.
