by Judy E. Coad (Author)

Does your heart struggle with making sense of certain actions attributed to God, particularly when reading the Old Testament? For example, "the Lord did evil to this people," "the Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh," or "the Lord put Saul to death." For some people, these and other similar expressions may cause lack of clarity about God's goodness. Others have pointed to these kinds of expressions in the Bible to blame or disrespect the God of the Scriptures. This should not be so. To that end, this study is primarily concerned with certain expressions that at first glance might seem to say that God did something contrary to His nature or a person's freewill. This study's main objective is to determine, from the Scriptures, whether such expressions are figurative or literal. The author's prayer is that you will see more clearly how good our God is, from Genesis through Revelation.
