The culture wars are the product of the conflict between worldviews competing for supremacy in the America republic and on a larger scale in all of Western civilization. On one side we have those who hold to the Judeo-Christian worldview which was the heart of Western civilization for 1,500 years and America since the arrival of the first Europeans in the early 1600s. On the other side are those who champion a humanistic view of the world that has proliferated since the Enlightenment era of the 1700s. Each of these spheres produces seemingly unrelated instances of cultural conflict.
