One of the most pressing and ongoing challenges in Christian higher education is to equip faculty to fulfill the institutional mission and vision statements of their colleges and universities, which typically include the aspiration to be "Christ-centered" and to "integrate faith and learning" in both teaching and research. To this end, colleges will often have new faculty read foundational Christian worldview books, like Albert M. Wolters' classic Creation Regained, but may lack concrete examples of what it would look like to build on these foundations. This volume aims to address this problem, featuring seasoned scholar/teachers in various areas applying a Christian worldview perspective to their own academic disciplines and professions (i.e., mathematics, physical science, engineering, psychology, social work, history, political science, biomedical ethics, language and literature, music, and marketing).Rooted in the Scriptures and the Reformed intellectual tradition, this volume draws primarily from the "Reformational" vision exemplified in Wolters' Creation Regained, with a strong emphasis on the lawfulness of creation, the devastation of sin, and the ways in which redemption in Christ transforms all aspects of human life, including the academic disciplines. Each chapter also suggests helpful resources for further study. The hope is that this book-appropriate not only for faculty but also advanced undergraduates and interested laypeople-will take up a place among those from other Christian intellectual traditions in our common task of "taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ" (2 Cor 10:5).
