Author Biography

Brian Guest is a former CEO with an extensive international career in Fortune 100 companies. Based on his experience working at various management levels and motivated by a desire to help others achieve their potential he decided to begin a career as an international executive coach. He obtained an M.A. in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge, England, in 1978. Brian is also qualified as an ACA (Chartered Accountant, the UK equivalent of a CPA) in 1981. In 1982 he began his international career on joining the American International Group (then a Fortune 100 company, the largest global insurer) as an international auditor. He was promoted to audit management and worked in the USA, Latin America, Caribbean, Europe and Africa. In 1987 he joined Royal Insurance (now RSA) and worked in financial management in the international division. Joining Commercial Union (now Aviva plc, 2011 Fortune Global 500 number 64) three years later, he worked in business development, holding various positions including being the General Manager for Hong Kong and Regional Director for Latin America. In 1997 he began working in the HSBC Group (2011 Fortune Global 500 number 46) and his responsibilities over an eight year period included being CEO for the US$500mn Brazilian insurance business with 1,500 staff as well as Chief Underwriting Officer for Latin America. During this time his division received two national prizes for best performing insurer.
